Welcome to another edition of the Forgotten Footprints newsletter! Today we’ll be looking at the hottest historical and archaeological finds from September 2023.

Before we dive into the most exciting finds of the previous month, I’d like to talk about someone I’ve been thinking about for a while. In 1993, archaeologists made a stunning discovery of a 25-year-old woman in the Siberian permafrost. Her shoulder had a beautiful blue tattoo. She was nicknamed “The Siberian Ice Maiden.” It’s rare that a 2500-year-old mummy would create a conflict between nationalists and scientists. But this lady was special.
