His show Man vs. Wild displays his exceptional survival skills under testing conditions and gives us a glimpse of how our prehistoric ancestors must have withstood rugged terrain and inhospitable conditions to triumph against nature.

We are the last hominin species left. This would make us naturally complacent about our survival skills, superior to those of other hominins that went extinct. But a latest discovery challenges this view.

Homo Erectus, the earliest known human-like species which migrated out of Africa, colonizing Asia and Europe and credited with discovering fire, had remarkable survival skills which were previously believed to exist only among Homo Sapiens.
